Pinèdes endémiques canariennes

Forests of endemic Pinus canariensis, of the dry montane level at around 800 to 2000 metres (locally down to 500 and up to 2500 metres) in Tenerife, La Palma, Gran Canaria and Hierro, with Chamaecytisus proliferus, Adenocarpus foliolosus, Cistus symphytifolius, Lotus campylocladus, L. hillebrandii, L. spartioides, Daphne gnidium, Juniperus cedrus, Micromeria spp.; these forests, of which well-preserved examples have become rare, are the only habitat of Fringilla teydea, Dendrocopos major canariensis and D. m. thanneri.
